Niels Poensgen was born in 1992 in Paris. After studying computer science, he began an intensive artistic collaboration with the Italian video designer Jacopo Castellano, touring between 2014 and 2016 through Italy and Germany, with works showcased at events including the Sonar Festival. Later, he met Julius Rülke in the Berlin club scene, with whom he has been performing in a permanent formation since 2018. Both are internationally booked by renowned clubs and festivals, including the Detect Classic Festival, the Distortion Festival, Ostend in Leipzig, and Kater Blau in Berlin. Niels Poensgen has a master's degree in Sound Studies at the Berlin University of the Arts, with a focus on computer music and the design and programming of custom synthesizers and effects to support unique compositional approaches. His multimedia installations have been exhibited at venues such as the Academy of Arts, Berlin.
Julius Rülke, born in 1995 in Berlin, began with classical piano lessons and was a member of the newly founded Berlin State Youth Ensemble for New Music. From 2015 to 2019, he completed his studies as a Tonmeister for audiovisual media at the Babelsberg Film University Konrad Wolf. He took his first steps in the Berlin club and electronic scene while still a student. Today, Rülke performs live sets in Germany and internationally, including in Mexico, France, Belgium, and Switzerland. He is a regular guest at festivals such as Fusion. Together with Niels Poensgen, he recently released the album Hard Times - Soft Music on the Cologne label Laut & Luise. As a versatile musician, he has also gained extensive experience in pop music, stage music, and sound installations. Since 2017, Rülke has contributed to various film projects, from animated to feature films, working as a sound designer and production sound mixer.
